Toshikoshi Soba: Japanese traditional noodle bowl Toshikoshi Soba: Japanese traditional noodle bowl you eat on New Year's Eve. It means "year-crossing noodle". By eating soba noodle on New Year's Eve, you let go of the hardship of the year and welcome a good new year to have a good luck.

I've had this noodle bowl on New Year's Eve since I was very young with my family. Every single year. I got accustomed to make it once I moved to USA as well. Something I can't let go of even after becoming an American citizen.

On 2019 New Year's Eve, we were out of country on a travel, so we missed eating this good luck noodle and ended up eating it on 1/2 which was basically too late to welcome a good year...and the result was...2020.

So I definitely made sure we ate soba noodle last night and it was awesome! You can't see soba noodles in the photo but they are buried under salmon, seaweed, and lots of veggies.

Here we go, 2021! We are welcoming a new year with skiing as usual.

This was probably the most beautiful mountain bike ride I have done! Everywhere I looked, there was gold, yellow, orange and red. As these colors passed me on the trail, I felt joyous and optimistic.

I've been wanting to climb on Notchtop for a while and @rianonnnn and I made it happen on Sun on a gorgeous bluebird day!

Thanks @thealpinetrainingcenter for training us safely during this pandemic! We thought about your tire drags, rope climbs, countless squats and lunges, and weighted pull ups during the climb!! So worth it... @csciolino @jasonantin

The photos taken from this weekend, trying fly fishing for the first time (for me). Thanks to Sam, Patrick's brother, I learned to cast and catch a berry on the nearby tree! No luck of fish for me.

I now have a UV sterilization lamp in my office, t I now have a UV sterilization lamp in my office, to disinfect everything after each day. On top of all the cleaning and disinfection I do between clients, this UV lamp can further help us stay safe and healthy!

My favorite part of my massage room is not the UV lamp though...my favorite part is the skylight windows! My clients LOVE being able to see the blue sky and the clouds during the session. There's a lot of sunlight in the room. My other favorite part of the room is this big calligraphy piece written in Japanese (Chinese characters) that says "Good Luck: longevity, abundance, good will and fortune" (Japanese friends, am I translating it correctly?) My first week back doing Thai massage went smoothly last week. It has been so great to see my clients again and see some new clients as well. I'm feeling grounded and happy.

I have availability on 6/25, 26, 6/30-7/2 and again from 7/14. If you like to schedule an appointment, please email me at contact@yogayuki.com *I'm still teaching Tue/Thu 11am MST Zoom Yoga classes and this will continue for a while. Join me this morning at 11am to drop in! Link in bio.
